Asian Art Museum of San Francisco

Janet is the Chairperson of the Professional Advisory Committee at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. This is a volunteer committee of the Legacy Giving Program and the Planned Giving Advisory Council.

V-Day

V-Day is a nonprofit corporation that distributes funds to grassroots, national, and international organizations and programs that work to stop violence against women and girls. Janet provides legal counsel services to this institution. V-Day was also named one of Worth Magazine's "100 Best Charities" in 2001.

Nonprofit Professional Interests

Janet has testified as an expert witness regarding trusts and conservatorships. She is interviewed and extensively quoted regarding trusts in You've Earned It, Don't Lose ItThe 9 Steps to Financial Freedom, and other popular books written by Suze Orman. In addition, she has presented estate planning seminars with Suze Orman for public television in:

Alan Beaven Family Fund

Janet serves as trustee for the Alan Beaven Family Fund. Alan is one of the heroes of Flight 93 on September 11, 2001. As a native New Zealander and longtime Oakland resident, he was an environmental attorney with Berman DeValerio Pease Tabacco Burt & Pucillo. He devoted his career to representing many environmental groups in numerous high-profile Clean Water Act cases. Joe Tabacco, a partner in the San Francisco office, said "Alan was an environmental champion whose numerous successful prosecutions have markedly improved water quality throughout California. The environmental bar has lost one of its brightest stars." Senator Barbara Boxer spoke about Alan from the floor during the 107th Congress.
